Rescheduled alpine races wrap
up at Soldier
Utah racers Bryan Bolda and
Katherine Sawaya won the final set of giant slaloms in the David Wright
Memorial hosted by the Hailey Ski Team at Soldier Mountain Tuesday.
The races were the fourth in a
series of Intermountain J1/J2 qualifiers hosted by the Sun Valley and
Hailey ski teams.
Sawaya of Rowmark Ski Academy beat
Hailey’s Laura Durkheimer by less than a second to win the 30-gate giant
slalom on Monument Run.
Charlotte Gourlay finished fifth
for the second straight day and was the top girl for Sun Valley.
Teammates Amy Alexander (6th), Lauren Parsons (7th),
Cassidy Doucette (8th) and Danielle Maniere (10th)
rounded out the top ten.
Park City’s Bryan Bolda (1:55.47)
and teammate Charly Ligety (1:56.31) finished one-two in the men’s giant
slalom.
Kristian Timmons of Sun Valley was
seventh in 1:57.71. Sun Valley racers grabbed the 10th
through 13th spots with Willi Cannell, Ash Higgins, Slater
Storey and Corey Bellinger. Hailey’s Tyler Chandler was 15th.
