Cutthroats can Bliss by a bunch

After playing a pair of gut busting basketball games, The Community School boys bounced Bliss 70-29 Tuesday.

It was probably a nice change of pace for the Cutthroats, after a one-point win over Dietrich and a two-point overtime loss to Carey the previous week.

Making their final homecourt appearance at the Fish Tank, the Cutthroats cruised to a 23-2 lead in the first quarter and a commanding 31-point advantage at halftime.

John Hayes netted nine points in the first frame, en route to a team-high 16. He also snagged 13 rebounds. Four players, Andrew Durtschi Logan Koffler, Hunter Smith and Dylan McIllhenny, scored eight points apiece.

The Community School (9-2 league) travels to Richfield for its regular-season finale Saturday, Feb. 7. The Cutthroats open up the Northside 1A Sub-District tourney as the second seed and play #7-seeded Bliss Feb. 12 in Shoshone.

CSchool 70-21 over Bliss: John Hayes 16 points, Andrew Durtschi 8, Hunter Smith 8, Logan Koffler 8, Dylan McIllhenny 8, Jimmy Fairchild 7, Connor Wade 6, Luc McCann 5, AJ Beesley 4. Rebounds (41)—Hayes 13, McCann 11, Koffler 10, Smith 10, McIllhenney 9. Assists (23)—McCann 5. Blocked shots—Wade 4.
