Brown earns
Topolino nod
Wins Brundage slalom
Sun Valley Ski Team second-year J3 Tristan
"Teton" Brown, 14, last week earned a spot on the Intermountain Division’s
eight-member team headed to the Western Region J3 Topolino Shootout scheduled
for Jan. 3-5 at Sugar Bowl, Ca.
To make the team, Brown had a great series
of races in the Hinson Power Sports Intermountain J3 Qualifier Dec. 29-30 at
Brundage Mountain in McCall. His torrid first run gave Brown a .80-second
victory in the Dec. 30 slalom in which there were 55 finishers.
Brown, Christopher Dancy of Park City,
William Stewart of Bogus Basin and Nikolai Dziezyc of Jackson Hole were the J3
boys chosen for Sugar Bowl. The girls were Kiley Staples, Jennifer VanWagner and
Laurie Huff of Rowmark, and Melissa Gill of Jackson Hole.
Sunday’s slalom and Monday’s giant slalom
were the two Topolino races scheduled.
At Brundage Mountain, the Sun Valley or
Hailey ski teamers didn’t have any other podiums in the tech races—but Soren
Ireland (SL) and Teton Brown (GS) had fourths, and Calley Brown (GS) was fifth.
There were 65 boys and 58 girls from
Idaho, Utah and Wyoming at Brundage. Results for the 26 Sun Valley and Hailey
