January ski clinics are designed for
locals
Brush up on your skills at Sun Valley
Once again, Sun Valley Company is
offering special ski and snowboard instruction clinics for Blaine County
students during January.
The three-weekend, six-session Sun
Valley Ski & Snowboard School kids' program is limited to students in
kindergarten through the sixth grade (snowboard instruction for kids
7-and-older, only).
Open to all kids currently enrolled in
Blaine County grade schools, the program is scheduled to begin its 27th season
on Saturday, Jan. 10.
The cost of $125 per person includes
lessons as well as lift tickets for all six days.
All instruction is provided by regular
Sun Valley Ski School instructors at substantial savings compared to the cost
of regular children's clinic rates and lift passes. You pay only $20 per day
for teaching and lift passes.
Tickets for instruction and skiing are
available through Friday, Jan. 9 at River Run Day Lodge (622-2289). No late
registrations will be accepted.
A child must take part in the first day
of lessons Jan. 10 to be eligible for the remaining weekend sessions Jan. 11,
Jan. 17-18, Jan. 25-26 and Jan. 31.
Regardless of skiing ability, all
registered participants must meet from 8:30-9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at Dollar
Cabin. Children are assigned to classes according to ability.
The morning classes start at 9 a.m. and
conclude by 11:30 a.m. Parents are responsible for their children once the
classes end. If supervised or allowed, children may continue skiing on their
full-day lift passes. The afternoon classes go from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Local adult clinics
Also in January, the Sun Valley Ski &
Snowboard School for the 23rd consecutive year is offering local adult ski and
snowboard clinics.
Clinics for competent Baldy
skiers/snowboarders are held for three consecutive Saturdays. They are Jan.
17, Jan. 24 and Jan. 31. The cost of $90 per person does not include the price
of lift tickets.
The Baldy skiers/snowboarders have their
initial meeting Saturday, Jan. 17 at 11:30 a.m. at River Run Day Lodge.
Instruction occurs from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on each of the three days.
Beginning skiers will join regular ski
classes from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on the three Saturdays. Absolute beginners
won't be required to buy a lift ticket the first lesson.
Participants must register in person at
River Run Lodge through Friday, Jan. 16. You must attend the first Saturday.
No tickets will be sold on a single-day basis. Call River Run Ski School at
622-2289.
