Suns, All-Stars
enjoy a fun skate
Post-XMas hockey, Blades next
A good-natured ice hockey exhibition on
the night after Christmas was just the right tonic for some old timers and some
up-and-comers Friday.
The Sun Valley Suns hosted a pick-up group
comprised of Suns Hall of Famers and kids who grew up in the Sun Valley Junior
Hockey system.
Having great fun coaching the All-Stars last weekend were professional
golfers Davis Love III and Fred Couples, in Sun Valley for the Christmas holiday.

Lending star presence to the occasion were
professional golfers Davis Love III and Fred Couples, Christmas holiday
vacationers who coached the Celebrity All-Star sextet.
The final score favored the Suns 8-5, but
it was a great way to spend an evening. The Old Timers attempted, often in vain,
to move the puck out of the zone while the young bucks showed their speed and
skills.
Ryan McDonald, Scott Winkler, Justin
Taylor, Joey Sides and Blake Jenson were the goal scorers for the All-Stars.
Collecting All-Star assists were Cody
Lampl (4), Taylor (2) and Bobby Noyes. All-Star goalie Billy Cook stopped 47 of
the 55 shots he faced.
Other All-Stars were Tate Mills, Dave
Hutchinson, Phil Hebert, Glenn Hunter, John Burke, Harry Weekes, Tim Jeneson,
Mats Wilander, Pete Prekeges, Zac Crist, Peter Whitehead and Zac Crist.
Vilnis Nikolaisons (3 points), Paul
Baranzelli and John Stevens accounted for two goals apiece for the Suns, while
John Miller (3 points) and Caleb Baukol added single goals. Jamie Ellison and
Ryan Enrico had two assists each.
The Suns (2-0) play two games against the
Boise Blades Friday and Saturday, Jan. 2-3. Opening faceoffs are at 7 p.m. at
Sun Valley Skating Center.
Check next week’s Local Life for more
photos of last Friday’s exhibition game.
