Carey students in
Idaho band marching
in Parade of Roses
Idaho high school band members, including
six from Carey High School, will march New Year’s Day in the Tournament of Roses
parade in Pasadena, Calif.
The Idaho All-Star Marching Band was
selected to fill one of 23 open slots for a marching band this year.
The Idaho High School All-Star Marching
Band and Color Guard then began selecting students in grades nine to 12 for
membership. David Wells, executive director of the band, wanted students from
every high school in the state to participate.
Nearly 300 young musicians are preparing
for the event.
The six Carey students joining the
festivities in California are Serene Bingham, Naomi Harmon, Bonnie Olsen,
Whitney Peck, Allison Shaffer and Derrick Tuckett. Rayanne Hennefer, who is
recovering from a sports injury, was also scheduled to participate. John and
Heidi Peck are traveling as chaperones.
Idaho made its last appearance in the Rose
Parade in 1963.
