Wood River Ride Share announced this week the Peak Bus will have expanded
service starting Monday, Oct. 13.
Three runs will be added to the schedule: northbound leaving Bellevue at
11:45 a.m. and southbound leaving Sun Valley at 10:45 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The 4 p.m. southbound route will run only on weekdays. In addition to these
runs, there will be a Friday night northbound run leaving Bellevue at 8:10 p.m.
A Friday night southbound run leaves Sun Valley at 9:20 p.m. and the Ketchum
Visitor Center at 9:30 p.m.
For the first 15 months of operation the Peak Bus ran only three times in the
morning and three times in the afternoon.
"These schedule changes were possible in part by Blaine County being awarded
a 2003 Federal Rural Transit grant by the Idaho Transportation Department and
the 34 percent fare box recovery rate during the first year of operation, 9
percent over what had been budgeted for the first 12 months of service," said
Wood River Ride Share Director Beth Callister. Fare box recovery rate is a
measure of annual costs recovered by on-board fare collection. The national
average for fare box recovery is 20 percent.
The new schedule is printed in today’s Idaho Mountain Express, and will be
printed weekly thereafter. New schedules will also be available by the end of
this week at Atkinsons’ Markets in Ketchum and Hailey and Guffy’s in Bellevue
