"Awesome."

That is how Community School girls’ soccer coach Kelly Feldman summed up her varsity’s performance against Twin Falls Monday afternoon.

"We played a great game," Feldman said. "We have several players with the flu and we are a little banged up. They (Twin Falls) are a tough team and we were right there."

In the game’s waning moments with the score knotted 2-2, Bruin forward Orla Walsh scored her third goal to give Twin Falls a 3-2 non-conference victory. It was Ketchum’s (3-1-1) first loss of the season.

Bruins coach Steve Schmid was impressed with The Community School squad.

"You have to hand it to them. The Cutthroats are a great little team. I can’t say enough about them," Schmid remarked. "They gave as good as they got."

Walsh gave Twin (3-4-3) the lead about 15 minutes into the first half. Cutthroat stopper Morgan Arritola scored twice in the next 15 minutes to give the ‘Throats the advantage.

"I was thrilled to have the lead at half," Feldman said.

Outshooting Sun Valley 10-5 in the second, Twin Falls finally converted at the 20-minute mark and Walsh snapped in the game-winner with two minutes remaining.

"We definitely got tired in the second half, but I felt like our team came together," Feldman said. "It is nice to know we can play a game like this. I had some questions about my defense, but they were right there."

After an extended school break, Ketchum/Sun Valley returned to the pitch at Declo last Thursday and beat the host Hornets 3-0. Arritola scored two goals and Amy Alexander chipped in one for the winners.

The next Cuthroat opponent is American Falls. Game time is 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Sagewillow Soccer Complex in Elkhorn.
