Hailey artist receives nod for work

Hailey and Montana resident, Theodore
Waddell was recently presented with the 2003 Caritas Award from the St. Patrick
Memorial Hospital in Missoula, Mont.
Waddell was cited for his "profoundly
positive impact upon the healing environment" by Dr. Herbert Swick at the
hospital’s inaugural art and healing program where 35 of his painting prints and
drawings have been displayed.
Waddell is a nationally known Western
landscape artist whose specialty is his use of broad strokes of thick paint
capturing mountains, fields and skies.
Born and raised in Montana, Waddell
studied at the Brooklyn Museum Art School, received a bachelor's degree from
Eastern Montana College and an master’s from Wayne State University in sculpture
and printmaking.
His work is currently on display at the
Gail Severn Gallery in Ketchum in a show titled "Visions of the American West."
The exhibit will remain up through October with works in conjunction with the
annual Trailing of the Sheep Festival. The gallery is located at 400 First Ave.,
North.
