Cropper is Valley Club men’s king
Beats Hutchinson in match play
Hailey’s Dave Cropper continued his hot
shooting Monday and won The Valley Club match play men’s golf championship for
2003.
Cropper, the reigning Idaho Golf
Association Senior Men’s amateur champion, made a 25-foot birdie putt on the
16th hole to beat defending champion Dave Hutchinson 3 & 2.
Hutchinson just missed his own birdie putt
in an attempt to keep the final match going. And Cropper kept his hot streak
alive, dating back to his IGA Senior Men’s victory Aug. 10 at Falcon Crest in
Kuna.
In the semi-finals of the 16-player
championship flight, Cropper advanced 2-up over Ray Barshick and Hutchinson got
past Kevin Cincotta 2 & 1.
A total 28 men registered for Friday’s
match play qualifier and 15 made it into the championship flight—with last
year’s champion Hutchinson exempt from qualifying in 2003.
