2003 Labor Day PRCA rodeo pay window


The Sawtooth Rangers Riding Club staged its first annual Labor Day PRCA rodeo Monday, Sept. 1 at Hailey Rodeo Arena. An estimated 1,200 rodeo fans were in the 3,000-seat arena. The total purse was $8,973.60. The rodeo featured 29 rough stock riders and 71 timed event competitors.

Stock was provided by Slash T Rodeo Company of Gooding. Top results for Monday’s rodeo:

• Barrel racing ($825.60 purse):
1—Tonia Adams of Plain City, Utah 17.28 seconds for $330.24. 2—Lynette Sanders of West Haven, Utah 17.80 seconds for $247.68. 3—Jessica Miller of Paicines, Ca. 17.96 seconds for $165.12. 4—Shirley Ankrus of Pocatello 18.03 seconds for $82.56 (entry fee $60, with 9 riders).

• Team roping ($3,007.00 purse):
1—Jason Eiguren of Jordan Valley, Ore. and Coby Drake of Enterprise, Utah 4.9 seconds for $601.40 each. 2 (tie)—Brian Winn of Annabelia, Utah and Brian Roundy of Richfield, Utah 5.3 seconds for $375.88, and Colby Siddoway of Hopper, Utah and Jade Anderson of Annabelia, Utah 5.3 seconds for $375.88. 4—Tyler Boll of Pocatello and Ben Tibbitts of Blackfoot 6.1 seconds for $150.35 (entry fee $95 per man, with 14 teams).

• Saddle bronc ($892.40 purse):
1—Matt Marvel of Battle Mountain, Nev. 81 points on Hot Snuff for $356.96. 2—Galen Wilson of North Las Vegas, Nev. 80 points on Krystals Angel for $267.72. 3 (tie)—Joe P. Slagawski of Carlin, Nev. 75 points on Snipper for $133.86, and Tom Wilson of Dubois 75 points on Bay Run for $133.86 (entry fee $50, with 14 riders).

• Steer wrestling ($1,261 purse):
1—Ryan Trapp of Tremonton, Utah 5.6 seconds for $504.40. 2—Alex Hover of Ogden, Utah 6.0 seconds for $378.30. 3 (tie)—Slack cowboys Cody Thacker and Cody Cowdell 6.1 seconds for $189.15 apiece (entry fee $60, with 20 bulldoggers).

• Bareback bronc ($659.60 purse):
1 (three-way tie)—Doug Wolfley of Bedford, Wyo. 73 points on Ringtail for $197.88; Ty Jones of Boise 73 points on Gone Wild Dipn for $197.88; and Bud Munns of Hansel Valley, Utah 73 points on Guardian Angel for $197.88. 4—Dustin Luper of Jerome 69 points on 122 for $65.96 (entry fee $50, with 6 riders).

• Calf roping ($1,028.20 purse):
1—Chet Keetch of Montpelier 8.7 seconds for $411.28. 2—Paul Cope of Nampa 9.0 seconds for $308.46. 3—Jason Eiguren of Jordan Valley, Utah 9.3 seconds for $205.64. 4—Ryan Likely of Jerome 9.4 seconds for $102.82 (entry fee $60, with 14 ropers).

• Bullriding ($1,299.80 purse):
1— Wesley Silcox of Payson, Utah 88 points on Snake Eater for $519.92. 2—Shawn Silcox of Payson, Utah 82 points on Wipe Out for $389.94. 3—Joshua Smith of Pocatello 79 points on Dipn Oreo for $259.96. 4—Ricky Walch of Sandy Valley, Nev. 74 points on 777 for $129.98 (entry fee $60, with 21 riders).
