Sun Valley issues new lift-ticket rates

Sun Valley Co. this week released its
lift-ticket rates for the 2003-2004 winter season, applying small increases to
prices of its most popular passes.
This winter, a season pass for skiing and
snowboarding at Sun Valley Resort will cost $1,825, $30 more than last winter.
Full-day, adult lift tickets during peak season will cost $66, $1 more than last
year.
Sun Valley’s 20/20 ski pass—a popular
package that permits 20 days of peak-season skiing and 20 days of combined
early- and late-season skiing—will cost $825, $30 more than last year. The price
of the 20/20 pass was increased $100 last year.
However, those who purchase full-season
and 20/20 passes before Oct. 19 will receive a $100 discount on each pass.
Although Sun Valley’s daily lift-ticket
rates have been climbing steadily in recent years, they fall in the middle of
the price range established by two of the resort’s primary Rocky Mountain region
competitors. Wyoming’s Jackson Hole ski area will charge $64 this coming winter
for full-day, adult lift passes, while Colorado’s Aspen Skiing Co. will charge
$72 for a day pass to access its four ski mountains.
Adult, full-day lift tickets for Dollar
Mountain will cost $22, while child tickets will cost $17.
Sun Valley’s Bald Mountain is scheduled to
open for skiing on Thursday, Nov. 27, Thanksgiving Day. Early season is
scheduled to last through Dec. 13, while the resort’s late season is set to last
from March 29 to the final day of skiing—often in mid to late April.
