Senior Games coming to Twin Falls Aug.
20-24
Magic Valley events for 50-plus
The Wood River Valley has more than its
share of 50-something men and women who are in good shape.
And that makes Wood River a fertile
recruiting area for the inaugural Idaho Senior Games of Magic Valley, open to
all men and women over the age of 50.
The purpose of the Senior Games, scheduled
for Aug. 20-24 in Twin Falls, is to provide an opportunity for friendly
competition and to encourage seniors to stay active, according to organizer Bill
Hart of Buhl.
Events in the first-ever Magic Valley
Games are track and field, golf, tennis, bicycling, swimming, bridge and
bowling. All participants must be 50 as of Aug. 18, 2003.
Gold, silver and bronze medals will be
awarded in all age groups for all the events. Major funding is provided by Team
Con Paulos.
Magic Valley Senior Games is not a
qualifying event for the National Senior Games to be held in 2005. Qualifying
for nationals will be done at the Idaho State Senior Games in Boise in Sept.
2004.
Remember, you may enter more than one
sport in Twin Falls if they don’t overlap. Registration fees are nominal, only
$10. Late registration after Aug. 12 costs $15.
Pick up registration forms at the Idaho
Mountain Express office in Ketchum, or call Bill Hart at 208-543-4451, e-mail
