A championship
week of skating

At Sun Valley

Sun Valley Figure Skating Club members had a lot to boast about after competing in the 37th annual Sun Valley Summer Skating Championships July 25-27 on resort ice.

Competing were a couple of hundred figure skaters from 29 different clubs hailing from all over the U.S. Sun Valley skaters collected seven gold medals, nine silvers and nine bronze awards.

Event chairman was Barbara Richardson and Dick Brehmer was co-chairperson. Referee was Jack Searle of Salt Lake City, Utah.

USFSA judges were Betsy Hauck, David Hold and Lolly Jensen of Sun Valley; Barbara Stuns of Hailey; Michael Bauer of Olympia, Wash.; Joan Burns of Millbrae, Ca.; Jessica Gaynor of San Francisco, Ca.; Nancy Hepburn of Salt Lake City; Barbara Holland of Columbus, Ohio; Caren Kirsch of Lynwood, Wash.; and Hazel Wecal of Denver, Colo.

Other than some of the USFSA judges, the showcase judges included Sherry Booth, artistic director of Sun Valley Ballet School; professional singer Cheryl Morrell; local actress Sara Bradshaw; Sierra Dickens; and former Sun Valley skating director Herman Maricich.

Representing the SVFSC were president Daisy Langley; vice president Lolly Jensen; secretary Aline Kwok; and treasurer Barbara Richardson. The club’s board includes Dick Brehmer, Cyndy King, Herman Maricich, Barbara Wrensch and Lori Watson.

Executive administrative assistant is Constance S. McCamant Smith.
