Gold medalists
come to ice show
And the acrobats, too
August is looking golden at the Sun Valley
Ice Show.
Ice show coordinator Rainer Kolb recently announced the signing of two more
popular gold medalists for August performances of the weekly Saturday night ice
show.
Scott Hamilton will headline the Aug. 9 show, and Brian Boitano is on tap for
Aug. 30.
Already signed: 1992 Olympic gold medalist Viktor Petrenko for the Aug. 16
ice show. And rising American singles star Sasha Cohen is slated for the Aug. 23
show.
"It’s maybe my best August lineup ever," said Kolb.
One other highlight will be the return of enormously popular acrobats
Vladymyr Besedin and Oleksiy Polishchuk from Kiev, Ukraine. They will do four
shows from Aug. 9-30.
Kolb said, "I think skating needs something different like the acrobats.
Skating is not just champions and spins, and people here appreciate an act like
the acrobats which is unheard of in the figure skating world."
Eight-time British king and three-time Olympian Steven Cousins is due Aug. 2
and 9.
Continuing acts in the 66th summer season of the Sun Valley Ice Show include
world medalists and eight-time Lithuanian ice dancing champions Margarita
Drobiazko and Povilas Vanagas;
Also, professional world champions Frank Sweiding and Anita Hartshorn; 2000
professional world champions Elena Leonova and Andrei Khvalko of Russia; Dan
Hollander, a great show skater; Darlin Baker and Craig Heath; and popular
Russian hula hoop star Irina Grigorian.
