The third annual Ketchum Criterium bike race was held this past weekend with roughly 150 riders. Racers from Utah, Oregon, Washington and California joined locals and competitors from all over Idaho. The course was staged on five blocks on Ketchum’s west side. Race organizer Greg Stock of Sun Summit described the weekend as a total success with not a single crash and nary a mechanical issue.

"In most years you would get, at the very least, a flat tire, but this year was a perfect race," said Stock.

Whit Albright of Ketchum won the Men’s 3 category with a solo breakaway, just like he won Men’s 4/5 in last year’s criterium.

Local racer Nicole Brown had an outstanding race, placing third in her first licensed event. Riding solo for the entirety, Brown never relied on drafting and instead powered her way to an impressive podium place.

And, in the Cruiser Class, Joel Mallet edged out defending champion Pete Ross for the victory by using some "superior tactics," which, essentially were holding on to the lead motorcycle up the hill.

Ross used similar "superior tactics," last year by cutting through an alley behind the post office.
