This weekend

It’s a big weekend for bicycle racers in the Wood River Valley.

The Idaho District Time Trial championships will be staged Saturday, June 28 starting at Timmerman Hill south of Bellevue, and the Ketchum Criterium will take place in downtown Ketchum Sunday, June 29.

Here are some details:

Idaho District Time Trial championships: Ketchum’s Richard Feldman is the 11-time defending champion of the sprint race, which takes place on 40-kilometer and 20k out-and-back courses Saturday morning.

The races start at 7 a.m. from the U.S. 20 and S.H. 75 intersection at Timmerman Hill 22 miles south of Ketchum. Number pick-up is from 6-6:30 a.m. And pre-registration is required. Come by Durance Cycleworks in Ketchum or call 726-7693.

Ketchum Criterium: The third annual bicycle races in downtown Ketchum are sponsored by Sun Summit (726-0707). Last year there were 100 bicycle racers in 12 classes.

The event starts with the Citizen Junior 14-and-under class at 9 a.m. Sunday and continues all day on the 4/10 mile course until the Men’s Pro 1,2 class takes off at 6 p.m. for the feature one-hour race.
