TOURNAMENT RESULTS

Jodie’s Ego 15, The Cellar 14
My Ego couldn’t take losing to The Cellar. Thank God for M. Davis’ triple to score Larry Miller and the game-winning run. Jodie’s—Ken Edwards 3 hits (2 triples), 2 runs; Jim Carlson 3 hits, 3 runs; Angie Smith 2 hits, 2 runs. Cellar—B. Simpson 3 hits. Scott Crabtree 2 doubles, 3 runs.

Firefighters 19, Rico’s 18

Trimm 4 hits (2 triples/double), 4 runs; Jamie Rivetts 2 hits, 2 runs.

McCoy’s Painting 15, Lefty’s 12
Andrew Hebert noted this was the "second time this season" McCoy’s has beaten Lefty’s. At least Hebert gets J.R. to back up the mouth that roared. McCoy’s—John Rathfon 4 hits (3 doubles), 2 runs; Kathy Harper 2 hits, 2 runs. Lefty’s—Dave Hausmann 3 hits (HR/2 doubles). Shirley Studebaker 2 hits.

Roosevelt Tavern 23, Zenergy 7
Roosevelt pounded Zenergy like a veal cutlet and Pat McGee (4/4) was the hammer, smacking 3 HRs and a double. Roosevelt—Catherine Ehlers 3 hits (2B), 4 runs; Eric Ayers 3 hits (3B/2B), 2 runs. Zenergy—Ivars Muzis 3 hits.

Lefty’s 24, The Cellar 11
Smarting from losing to McCoy’s (for the second straight time this season), Lefty’s put The Cellar out of misery – and the tournament. Lefty’s—Matt Buxton 3 hits (HR/2B), 3 runs; Nicole Buckwalter 3 hits (2B), 3 runs. Cellar—Maggie M. 3 hits, 2 runs; Damon Ferrari HR.

View Point 21, Firefighters 9
The Point Rats laced 27 hits to Firefighters 13. Must have been the pants. View Point—Rod Watson 4 hits (cycle), 3 runs; Sharon Payne 3 hits (2B), 4 runs. Firefighters—M. Roos 2 hits, 2 runs; Jules Gardner 1 hit, 2 runs.

Firefighters 10, Zenergy 7
Call it girl power! The Zensters had to get in touch with their feminine side to come up with their closest game of the season. It is not skirting the issue to say they looked simply smashing. Too bad they didn’t have Kenny Nelson. Not only did they miss his bat. He has earrings that would match a skirt. Firefighters—Colton Tippets 3 hits (HR/2B), 2 runs; Jules Gardner 3 hits (2B), 1 run. Zenergy—Joe 3 hits, 2 runs; Sadie & Hailey 1 hits, 1 run each.

Color Haus 19, Jodie’s Ego 1
Five lousy hits did nothing to stroke my Ego. I have pimples that pack a bigger punch than Jodie’s Ego bats did. Color Haus—Bryan Burrell 4 hits (2 doubles), 3 runs; Bonnie Burrell 3 hits (2 doubles), 3 runs; Anthony Anderson 2 HR. Jodie’s—Larry Miller 2 hits, 1 run; M. Davis 3B/2B.

Firefighters 12, Lefty’s 11
Lefty’s outhit the Firefighters by one, but lost by one. It doesn’t add up, but the Sharks were counted out. Firefighters—Eric Palmer 3 hits (HR/2B), 2 runs; Becky Simpson 3 hits. Lefty’s—Bryan Speth 2 doubles, 2 runs; Christine Gould 2 doubles, 1 run.

Casino 13, Roosevelt 7
The Casino scored in every inning, but saved up for a 6-run fifth. Casino—Mike Torres 3 hits (3B/2B), 2 runs; Jill Morse 2 hits, 2 runs.

Roosevelt 21, Rico’s 14
Roosevelt hit like Mike Tyson in his prime. Rico’s was more like Ian Tyson. They were country when they should have been western. Roosevelt—Pat McGee 4 hits (3 HR/3B), 4 runs; Catherine Ehlers 3 hits (2 doubles), 3 runs. Rico’s—Matt Christian 4 hits (3B/2B), 4 runs; Claire Innes 3 hits, 1 run.

View Point 24, McCoy’s 7
McCoy’s had a cold dose of reality in the form a 28-hit barrage by the Rats. Reality bites. View Point—Robin Sarchett 4 hits (HR/3 doubles), 4 runs; Dotty Sarchett 3 hits, 1 run. McCoy’s—Matt Concannon 3 hits; Kathy Harper 2 hits, 2 runs.

Roosevelt 22, Jodie’s Ego 13
Just like the Wizard of Oz was the guy behind the green curtain, I must reveal to you the man behind the wooden partition—Dave Stone. The team is really Stoney’s Ego. My Ego wouldn’t wear that nice of uniform. Roosevelt—Pat McGee 4 hits (3 HR), 4 runs; Catherine Ehlers 3 hits (2B), 4 runs; Katie Wilson 3 hits, 2 runs. Jodie’s—Jim Carlson 4 hits, 3 runs; Amy Desy 2 hits (2B), 2 runs.

Color Haus 23, Casino 20
Benson cleared the hedges. Fester (4/4) made the difference with 3 HRs. Color Haus—Brent Anderson 3 hits, 2 runs; Julie Bell 2 hits, 2 runs. Casino—Joe Reali 6-for-6 (4 doubles), 3 runs; Laurel Williams 2 hits, 2 runs.

McCoy’s Painting 17, Roosevelt 15
Just like a Suns player on a Friday night, this one was up for grabs. McCoy’s staved off a seventh-inning surge by Roosevelt to win by a pair—Hugey’s favorite number. McCoy’s—Jarod Bell 4 hits (HR), 3 runs; Twyla Bulcher 3 hits (2B), 4 runs. Roosevelt—3 hits (HR/3B/2B), 4 runs; Catherine Ehlers 2 doubles, 4 runs.

Casino 25, Firefighters 9
The Firefighters little Cinderella story came to an ugly end. They got outhit 25-10 in five innings. Casino—Brenda Griffin 4/4 (2 doubles), 4 runs; Craig Morse 4 hits (2 HR/2B), 2 runs. Firefighters—R. Hall 2 hits, 2 runs; Becky Simpson 2 hits, 1 run.

Casino 19, McCoy’s Painting 17
This was perfect timing as far as McCoy’s was concerned. The game ended—and their season—shortly after noon. Happy hours anyone? Casino—Jill Morse 3 hits (3B/2B), 3 runs; Gary Moser 3 hits (2B), 2 runs. McCoy’s—Jarod Bell 3 hits (2 doubles), 2 runs; Twyla Bulcher 3 hits, 2 runs.

Color Haus 20, View Point 18
Color Haus outscored View Point 5-3 in the seventh and it made all the difference in a 2-run game. This is the only game Color Haus outhit the Rats, 26-18. They should have saved a few. Color Haus—Anthony Anderson 5/5; Dan Gearhart 4 hits (HR/3 doubles), 3 runs; Brigette Gross 3 hits, 3 runs. Point—Rod Watson 4/4 (HR/2 doubles), 3 runs; Sue Mulcahy 1 hit, 3 runs.

View Point 12, Casino 3
Casino was proud to note "they were the last bar standing". They were happy to sit down after the Point paddled them like a naughty schoolgirl. Easy big fella. View Point—Matt Barrow 2 hits (HR), 2 runs; Anna Kolash HR, 2 runs. Casino—Gary Moser 2 hits; Jill Morse 1 run.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES

View Point 23, Color Haus 10
The Point made their outnumbered fans really happy, pouring it on with a 9-run, 10-hit sixth, which prompted Haus second baseman Anthony Anderson to remark, "Turn the page." View Point—Rod Watson 5/5 (2 HR/2B), 3 runs; Robin Sarchett 5/5 (HR/2 doubles), 4 runs; Dotty Sarchett 4 hits, 2 runs. Color Haus—Brent Anderson HR/3B; Brigette Gross 2 hits (3B), 1 run.

View Point 4, Color Haus 2
View Point scored 3 runs in the fourth and held its breath in the seventh when the Haus had the game-winning run at the plate. Gene LeClaire’s dreams were answered when Watson grabbed a pop fly for the third out. View Point—Matt Barrow, Rod Watson, Gary Schott, Sharon Payne 2 hits, 1 run each. Haus—Chris Benson HR. Bryan Burrell 2 hits, 1 run.
