Vets honored at Memorial Day services
The David Ketchum American Legion Post
will hold Memorial Day ceremonies at the Ketchum Cemetery on Monday, May 26, at
11 a.m.
Members of the American Legion will
conduct ceremonies to Honor the Dead of our Service Personnel. The American
Legion Honor Guard will march into the cemetery with the American Flag. A short
speech and a prayer will be presented, followed by a rifle salute to our fallen
comrades. Two buglers in the distance will play taps.
The public is invited to attend and
seating is provided.
The plot of each veteran in the Ketchum
Cemetery will have a white cross and an American Flag displayed on it.
Another ceremony will be held at the
Hailey Cemetery on Memorial Day at 11 a.m.
The Idaho National Guard will present an
Honor Guard at the veterans section of the cemetery, where the Rev. Jennifer
Anttonen of Emmanuel Episcopal Church will lead a prayer. After the flag is
raised there will be a reception at the cemetery office nearby.
Cemetery Board Chairman Ray Grosvenor will
lead a dedication of the Memorial Wall, which honors all veterans, but
especially those from the Wood River Valley who lost their lives in World Wars I
and II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War.
Refreshments will be served. Everyone is
welcome.
