High school Suns
take three in Boise
Still unbeaten in league

What should have been a "clash of the
titans," turned out to be yet another easy win for the Suns high school hockey
team last weekend.
Heading back to Boise to face off against
Timberline, the only other undefeated team in the Boise High School League, the
Suns were hoping for stiff competition.
But, after a strong 5-1 win, their
opponents seemed, as Suns coach Jean Bohl artfully labeled them, "the mouse that
roared."
Perhaps meeting a paper tiger in the
opening game of a weekend series was good for the high school Suns who now find
themselves the only undefeated team in the league.
With a 15-0 record and a 41-5 goals earned
vs. goals allowed in their last seven games, it seems little stands between this
team and a state championship.
In games against, Timberline, Centennial,
Bishop Kelly and Borah this past weekend, the Suns outshot their opponents
135-29, bringing the two-week shot total to a staggering 247-50.
The defensive pairings featuring Kellen
Chatterton, Tyson Reynoso, Ryan Blackadar and Patrick Mullen have been
impenetrable.
But, there has been no resulting laziness
in net—this past weekend goalie Joey Bohl recorded his fourth shutout of the
year and is now working on an eight-period shutout string.
In the big event against Timberline, Noah
Loyd finished with a goal and an assist. Additional goals were sniped by Zach
Bloomfield from Taylor Rothgeb, Blackadar from Loyd and two unassisted by Tate
Mills and Chatterton.
On Saturday, the Suns took out Centennial
3-1. Loyd got another goal, this time with assists from Matt Fairfax and
Blackadar. Mills scored another unassisted goal. Mullen had the last goal on an
assist from Blackadar.
Sunday morning was anything but relaxed
for Bishop Kelly as the Suns trounced them 8-1. Chatterton assisted Loyd twice
that morning.
Even that standout performance was outdone
by a Tate Mills hat trick. Mills took two assists from Rothgeb and one each from
Mullen and Blackadar. Other goals came from Danny Gariepy assisted by Luke
Livingston and Alex Sholes from Sinjin Thomas and Gariepy.
Coach Andrew Hebert used the last game of
the weekend against Borah as practice and a chance for some younger players to
get some ice time and earn some points as the Suns rolled to a smooth 7-0
victory.
The Suns got goals from Reynoso (1), Loyd
(2), Thomas (1), Rothgeb (1) and Livingston (1), and Max Kuross got his first
goal of the season. Assists went to Chatterton (3), Blackadar (2), Bloomfield
(1), Kuross (2), Gariepy (2), Sholes (1), Mills (1), Thomas (1) and Reynoso (1).
Next weekend the Suns will travel to Salt
Lake City for the Great Western Showcase where they will play the Phoenix
Firebirds, a youth team from the Anaheim Mighty Duck organization, and also
long-time rival Jackson Hole.
