Sun Valley Planning and Zoning
commissioners Tuesday deferred final approval of the conditions that will govern
a conditional use permit for The Community School to construct a new elementary
school on its 30-acre Sagewillow campus in Elkhorn.
The panel is scheduled to convene in a
special meeting today at 10 a.m. in Sun Valley City Hall to review a long list
of final conditions discussed Tuesday.
The conditions are primarily aimed at
keeping the impacts of the project on neighboring residents to a minimum and
include provisions to severely limit the number of vehicles that can access the
campus via Arrowleaf Road.
The Sagewillow campus is located at the
end of Arrowleaf Road.
The conditions also outline penalties for
the school if the conditions are violated. The restrictions state that the
school will have to take immediate measures to reduce the number of vehicles
passing through the neighborhood after its first violation and must reduce its
enrollment after the second violation.
The P&Z’s final approval of the
conditional-use permit and conditions does not require approval of the Sun
Valley City Council. However, the decision can be appealed, and the phased
construction project must still go through the city’s design review process.
The panel Tuesday agreed to the final
conditions but asked to review the final document with their approved changes
one last time before it is signed for final approval.
