Night of upsets
in Gund Cup action
Two OT games
The Cellar and AmeriTitle pulled off the
upsets of the Senior Hockey League season Monday night in the Gund Cup
semi-final games at Sun Valley Skating Center.
Both went into overtime.
The Cellar upset top-seeded regular-season
league champ Grumpy’s (5-2) by a score of 3-2. Tom Forti scored for The Cellar,
while Charles Friedman added another goal plus the game winner in OT. Caleb
Baukol and Andre Lacroix lit the light for Grumpy’s.
Both goalies were exceptional—James Moskos
for The Cellar and David Stone for Grumpy’s.
In a crazy finish, AmeriTitle stormed back
from 4-1 and 7-5 deficits to oust #2-seeded Whitehead Landscaping 8-7.
Andrew Hebert scored the game-tying goal
as a swarming AmeriTitle team scored three goals on one shift in the final three
minutes for a 7-7 tie. Then Paul Baranzelli tallied his second goal, the game
winner, in the extra session.

Salvoni 2, Phil Hebert, Tim Jeneson and Mikael Reijo. Scoring for Whitehead
(3-3-1) were Matt Mahoney 2, Peter Whitehead 2, Brad Dredge 1, Dave Hennessy 1
and Jamie Dawson 1.
AmeriTitle eliminated Whitehead in last
year’s Gund Cup semi-finals, also in OT.
