An evening of magic, mystery and wonder is
the theme of The First Annual Fools Masquerade Ball Saturday, Feb. 8, at the
River Run Lodge.
Guests are strongly encouraged to wear
masks and be creative with their black tie outfits, Denise Simone, associate
artistic director of the Company of Fools said.
The ball is a benefit for the nonprofit
theater company that performs quality productions on their home stage at The
Liberty Theatre, in Hailey.
Among their many productions in the past
six years are "The Seagull," "Fool for Love," "Side Man" "Dinner with Friends,"
and "Waiting for Godot."
Future projects include "The Tempest,"
Feb. 13 through March 9, and "The Laramie Project." April 23 through May 11.
"Our parties are known for being creative
and fun," Simone said. "We want to carry on that tradition."
Guests will be presented to the court as
they arrive. The Riverside Jazz Orchestra will play as a trio first, and then
the 15-piece band will strike up for dancing.
"They’re hot, what they’re known for is
keeping to the atmosphere of the gathering," Simone said.
Each guests receives a ticket to "The
Tempest," a "prom" photo and a complimentary glass of champagne. Hors d’oeurves
will be served buffet style. A silent auction will have five blown glass masks
done by Seattle artist Richard Pitkethly.
The Board of Directors, with Cindy Lawson-Kesting
and Candy Robertson-Russet as co-chairs, plan to make it a yearly gala around
Valentine’s Day.
"It’s February, we’ve been in jeans and
ski clothes, now come play dress up with the Fools," Simone said.
Tickets are available at the Fools’ box
office in Hailey or by calling 578-9122.
