The
first-ever girls’ junior varsity team in Community School history got
off to an auspicious start.
With
coach Jason Lynch at the helm, the Cutthroat jayvee defeated Twin Falls
Christian Academy 48-35 at the Fish Tank Friday.
Ketchum
(1-0) blew open a four-point game, scoring 16 points in the fourth frame
to seal the victory.
Jackie
Goddard sunk 16 points to lead all scorers. Jenny Rutherford added 10
points. Kristin Hickey chipped in 8. Gussi Ochi 6, Caitlin Cairncross 6,
Erika Connelly 2.
It was
the varsity’s turn to play the following night, but Oakley prevailed
49-34 at home paced by guard Ali Cranney’s game-high 19 points.
The
Hornets led 20-19 at halftime and outscored the Cutthroats 29-15 in the
final two quarters.
Ketchum’s
high scorer was Pauli Ochi with 17 points. Hickey added 11. Connelly
scored 3, Goddard 2, Cairncross 1.
The
Ketchum varsity (0-1) hosts Carey in Northside Conference action on
Tuesday, Dec. 3. Jayvee tip-off is 6 p.m.
