meet records
Swimmers
from Sun Valley shattered a number of meet records during the Idaho
Falls Swim Team "Spook Splash 2002," meet for 168 kids from
Idaho and Wyoming Oct. 25-26 in the Idaho Falls Aquatic Center.
Mollie
Parker, 17, a Wood River High School senior, amassed five first-place
finishes and cracked meet records in each race she won. Parker won her
overall age class with the following record finishes and times:
First
places for Parker—200 IM (2:20.52); 100 free (56.54); 100 breast
(1:12.79); 100 butterfly (1:04.72); and 50 free (25.62).
Also
setting meet records for the 14-swimmer Sun Valley 5B swim team at Idaho
Falls were Michele Lowry, 15, and Amanda Harris, 15, and Katie Bryson,
16.
Lowry
set girls’ 15 meet records in winning 200 IM (2:18.55), 500 free
(5:32.31) and 100 back (1:02.15). Harris cracked records in winning
girls' 15 races at 100 free (57.08) and 200 free (2:09.64). Harris also
won the 50 freestyle event to place third overall of 11 swimmers in her
class.
Katie
Bryson, 16, established a meet record in winning 500 free (5:54.55). She
also captured 200 free and 100 breast in girls’ 16 and ended up second
overall in her class, just ahead of teammate Chloe Fuller.
Anja
Sundali swept the golds in her five events at girls’ 14. Tristan
Tanner placed second overall of 12 boys in the 12-year-old class by
winning 500 free and 50 backstroke.
Racheal
McGinnis, 11, won 100 and 50 free in the girls’ 11 category, helping
her to third place overall out of 28 girls in her class. And Sage Howe
won 25 free and butterfly in the girls’ 7-and-under age class.
In
all, SV5B captured 25 golds. Here are the best-of-meet placings:
2—Niels
McMahon and Chloe Fuller. 4—Rachael Becker. 5—Stormy Mataya and
Melissa Becker. 6—Esther Williams.
Also
setting meet records at Idaho Falls were Sun Valley’s winning girls’
18-and-under 200-yard medley and freestyle relay teams of Mollie Parker,
Michele Lowry, Anja Sundali and Amanda Harris.

Looking
ahead, nine swimmers will represent Wood River at the state swimming
meet Nov. 1-3 in Boise.
They
are Lowry, Parker, Harris, Sundali, Ben Parker, Ray Bryson, Katie
Bryson, Collin Collins and Alex Sandler.
