Price continues
assault on Coyote records
All-Region
volleyball player
Followers
of the Albertson College volleyball team were a little concerned two
weeks ago when three-time All-Region outside hitter Kristyn Price of
Bellevue was sidelined briefly with an ankle injury.
Price, an
Albertson senior majoring in anthropology and sociology and a four-year
‘Yotes volleyball player, is already the all-time Albertson leader in
career kills, and second in service aces and digs.
But the
5-8 senior calmed the fears of ‘Yotes coach Liz Mendiola of Jerome.
Price returned to the lineup and came up very big in two Albertson home
wins last week.
Price
pounded out 18 kills as Albertson College (6-10, 3-4 league) ended a
four-game losing streak with a 30-21, 30-18, 30-18 sweep of Cascade
Friday at J.A. Albertson Activities Center in Caldwell.
The
daughter of Sherry and Bruce Price amassed 15 kills, 10 digs and three
aces as Albertson enjoyed another three-game sweep, 30-18, 30-19, 30-25
over Warner Pacific Saturday on the home hardwoods.
Price
(283 kills season) currently leads the Cascade Conference with an
average of 5.15 kills per game—an average that would surpass the
school record. Price averaged 4.54 last year.
She leads
the team in digs (164) with 2.98 per game and is second in serving.
Price (626 kills in 2000, a school season record, 508 last year) is
closing in on 2,000 career kills—rarified air for a volleyball player.
Price,
who wears #12, was a All-State and All-Conference player for Wood River
High School in Hailey.
