Striker has big
week
Albertson
College sophomore Jason Southward of Hailey had a huge week for the
Coyote men’s soccer team. He was a one-man wrecking crew in three ‘Yotes
wins.
Last
Tuesday Southward scored the game winner early in overtime as Albertson
(8-2 overall, 5-1 league) captured its third OT victory of the season
1-0 over Northwest Nazarene.
Southward,
the rangy scoring leader of two Wood River High School state soccer
championship teams, tallied the first and last goals as Albertson beat
Warner Pacific 3-1 Friday at Symms Field in Caldwell.
Then, on
Saturday, Southward equaled the single-game school scoring record by
putting all four ‘Yotes goals in the net in a 4-1 triumph over Western
Baptist.
His final
two goals giving Albertson a five-game winning streak were set up by his
roommate, Nick Zollinger of Pocatello.
With
seven goals for the week, the son of Heidi and Glenn Southward is now
the team’s leading scorer with 10 goals and 3 assists.
