Blue
Lakes Country Club in Twin Falls was the site of the 36-hole Rocky
Mountain Section PGA Senior Section Championship Sept. 11-12. A total 18
pros and 28 amateurs golfed.
McCall
Golf Course pro Mike Buss broke a three-way, first-round tie with a
6-under-par 66 to win the Professionals flight and $1,000 with a score
of 71-66 for 137, seven under.
Tied for
fourth place was Sun Valley pro Doyle Corbett, 73-72 for 1-over-par 145
and $212.50. Local teaching pro Tommy Sanderson was 10th at 81-76 for
157 and Buhl’s John Weekes 14th at 86-81 for 167 ($250).
Ketchum’s
Brian Saksa (75-76 for 7-over-par 151) won the Amateur 50-54 flight and
$200, tying for the tourney’s low amateur score with Amateur 60-64
winner Walter Littenberg of Ketchum (77-74 for 151, $200).
Placing
1-2 in Amateur 60-64 net were Louie Mallane of Eagle (85-92 for 177-143
and $200) and Max Thompson of Twin Falls, (87-88 for 175-145 and $75).
Also playing in the Amateur 60-64 category was Dave Cropper of Hailey,
taking third place overall at 82-87 for 169.
At Valley Club
Dick
Shelton (72-77 for 149) won gross and Bill Ashley (72-75 for 147) took
the championship flight net prize in The Valley Club’s Senior
Championships held Sunday and Monday.
Second in
gross went to Dave Cropper (76-78 for 154) and Tift Mann (71-78 for 149)
was net winner.
Women’s
winners were Jeanne Mace (81-87 for 168) in gross and Barb Shelton
(75-72 for 147) in net.
Men’s
first flight winners were Woody Woodward (79-84 for 163) gross and Doug
Rhymes (74-78 for 152) net. Second places: Dick Porter (173) gross,
Jerry Boas (155) net.
Men’s
second flight winners were Bob Scott (92-86 for 178) gross and Dave
Almquist (60-71 for 131) net. Second places: Jerry Mells (181) gross,
John Blattman (144) net.
