Friday’s Carey game

Carey (2-0) at Hansen (1-0)


Time—7:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. Place—Hansen.

History—The teams didn’t play in 2001, when Hansen went 4-4 and finished 3-2 in the South Division. A 54-32 loss at Murtaugh eliminated the Huskies from playoff contention. In 2000, host Carey blanked Hansen 48-0 in the Panther Homecoming game. In that game, Jonathan Rivera (3 TD) rushed for 87 yards and caught 4 passes for 105 yards. Destry Simpson tallied a pair of TDs and Robbie Ellsworth added one.

Carey leads 5-0 in the short football series with Hansen—winning 38-0 at home in 1995, 48-22 at Hansen in 1996, 56-6 at home in 1998 and 48-0 at Hansen in 1999. The Panthers have outscored Hansen 238 to 28.

Last week—Hansen upset host Clark County 20-14 on a last-second interception return.

Coming up in the Sawtooth Conference—Other league games Friday, all non-divisional: North Gem (0-2) at Shoshone (0-1); Rockland (1-1) at Richfield (0-1); Sho-Ban (1-0) at Dietrich (1-1); Castleford (1-0) at Clark County (1-0); and Camas County (1-0) at Murtaugh (0-1). Last week, Camas County blanked North Gem 48-0; Castleford whipped Dietrich 37-0; Rockland got past Shoshone 44-6; and Sho-Ban clipped Richfield 32-2.
