Lefty’s second at Jackson Hole

Two soccer wins, one tie

Representing Lefty’s Bar & Grill, men’s soccer players from Ketchum and Denver teamed up to place second in last weekend’s 12-team Jackson Hole (Wyo.) Invitational meet.

The eight Ketchum players were Robin Sarchett, Josh Stanek, John Gerdis, Sean Higgins, Quinn Orb, Nick Walker, Roman Rozmanek and Chris Pysz. They were joined by six players from Denver including former Lefty’s forward Steve Fostvedt.

Lefty’s F.C. went 2-1-1 over two days and dropped Sunday’s hard-fought championship game to Park City (Utah) by a score of 2-1. The Lefty’s goalkeeper, allowing just five goals in four games, was Ketchum native Matt Patterson of Utah.

Saturday, Lefty’s beat Azteca of Utah 3-1 on goals by Fostvedt, Del Smith and Corey Fitzsimmons. Lefty’s tied Ogden (Utah) 2-2 with Sarchett and Fitzsimmons scoring.

Mike Flaherty tallied the game winner in Lefty’s 1-0 semi-final victory over Jackson Hole. Trailing 2-0 to Park City in the title game, Flaherty scored another but Lefty’s couldn’t stuff home the equalizer.

The Sun Valley Classic men’s tourney is Aug. 10-11 in Ketchum.
