Cool plunge beats the heat

Record 104 degrees wilts valley Saturday

Rene Thomas of Ketchum, Michael Fisher of Hailey and Billy Cook of Ketchum take a plunge into the cool waters of the Big Wood River on Saturday when temperatures reached a record high in the valley at 104 degrees. The river was full of others, also seeking sanctuary from the heat. The National Weather Service said that statewide the temps were over 100 degrees on Saturday—which was a record—and both Boise and Pocatello broke records for several days in a row in the three digits.  Express photo by Willy Cook
