at Founders Field
Blaine
County Title is sponsoring its first wood bat baseball tournament
comprised of four Sun Valley Men’s Adult Baseball League teams that
have been drafted for the occasion.
The
two-day tourney is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21 at
Founders Field in Hailey. Six preliminary games are planned followed by
Sunday’s 2 p.m. title game.
After the
championship game there will be a barbecue sponsored by Lefty’s Bar
& Grill and a wood bat home run derby at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
Teams are
the Homestead Grays (manager Curtis Bacca), Kansas City Monarchs (Dave
Fox), New York Cubans (Danny Turner) and Pittsburgh Crawfords (Robin
Sarchett).
Here are
the rosters, followed by this weekend’s game times:
· Homestead
Grays: Curtis Bacca, Brent Anderson, Andrew Beck, Tim Carter, James
Cordes, Jim Jorgensen, Kevin Mora, Billy Neal, Karl Nordstrom, Max
Paisley, Jeff Poggi and Rusty Seaward.
· Kansas
City Monarchs: Dave Fox, Josh Aldinger, Anthony Anderson, Matt Beck,
Rick Bradshaw, Tim Mott, Patrick Mullen, Brian Nelson, James Nelson,
John Rathfon, Scott Seaward, Zach Sewell and Ryan Stavros.
· New
York Cubans: Danny Turner, Tyler Corrock, Dan Gearhart, Cory
Goicoechea, Dave Hausmann, Brandon Hughes, Chad Martin, Riley Nash, Matt
Nelson, Christian Nickum, Pat Revallier, Buffalo Rixon and Ric Slone.
· Pittsburgh
Crawfords: Robin Sarchett, Craig Anderson, Jeff Burrell, Josh
Charlat, Paul Creighton, Dan Freeman, Jimmy Hart, Cam Lloyd, Dennis
McLean, Kenny Nelson, Jeff Sarchett and Hoss Schmidt.
Each team
is guaranteed three games, playing each other team once.
Saturday,
the Pittsburgh Crawfords play the Kansas City Monarchs at 8 a.m. and the
Homestead Grays go against the Crawfords at 11 a.m. It’s the New York
Cubans against the Grays at 2 p.m. and the Monarchs against the Cubans
at 5 p.m.
On
Sunday, the Cubans play the Crawfords at 8 a.m. and the Grays clash with
the Monarchs at 11 a.m.
The top
two teams making the championship game will be the best in win-loss,
head-to-head and, the third tiebreaker, runs allowed. The tournament
wood bats were purchased from the San Diego Padres.
