WR Middle School students accept 2001-02 awards

Recognition at year-end school assembly


Outstanding Wood River Middle School students and citizens were honored for their 2001-02 school year activities during awards assemblies held the last week of school.

Highlight of the assemblies was presentation of Citizenship Awards voted by members of the student body.

The Citizenship winners in the Red and Green (eighth grade), Blue and Purple (seventh grade), and Gold and Silver (sixth grade) teams were determined on service, courtesy, scholarship, character, personality and attitude.

Eighth-grade citizenship winners were Colleen Fiaschetti, Kyle Niedrich, Ross Campbell and Addy Mason.

The principal’s award was presented to eighth-graders Huston Brashears and Abby Fairman.

Seventh-grade citizenship award recipients were Max Kwok, Kaitlin Gasenica, Taylor Stevenson and Conor Davis.

Sixth-grade citizenship winners for 2001-02 were T.J. Castle, Lacy Werley, T.J. France and Tessa Barrow.

Other important awards handed out this year:

Presidential Education Awards for outstanding academic achievement were distributed to 57 eighth-grade students who achieved grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher, while scoring 85% or higher on standard achievement tests.

Winners were Patrick Arpp, Kelsie Barrow, Scott Bartlett, Corey Bellinger, Ross Campbell, Dana Christensen, Ryan Cincotta, Ramsey Copeland, Michael Dale, Sophia Dilley, Alexandra Dougherty, Bethany Drewien, Margii Driscoll, Hillary Elmore and Marne Elmore;

Also, Abigail Fairman, Spencer Flade, Guin Frehling, Grady Goodenough, Alexis Greenwood, Andrew Hall, Robbie Hamlin, Hans Howard, Simone Kastner, Robert Lascheck, Garrett Leo, Chad Levitan, Adelaide Mason, Kenny Mauro, Brian McGinnis, Ryann Menges, Jozey Mitcham, Bryce Newcomb, Lauren Parsons and McKenna Peterson;

Perfect attendance is another attribute rewarded during the annual awards.

Three-year perfect attendance awards were given to Marne Elmore, Hillary Elmore and Abby Fairman.

Other eighth-grade perfect attendance kids were Michael Dale, Jhean Paucar, Nicholas Purdy and T.J. Squires.

Seventh-grade perfect attendance winners were Ben Doan, Jessica Ornelas, Kane Thomas, Raul Villaneuva and Jessica Waszak.

Perfect attendance in the sixth grade went to Kayla Ayala, Alejandro Bedolla, Daisy Carrillo, Ryan Gorham, Luvy Guzman, Rachel Hoolahan, Daniel Norton, Patrick Patterson and Kori Wagner.

In this ninth full year of the middle school concept, other awards were given by grade:

·  Drawing and Painting awards went to Lauren Webb, Simone Kastner, Artie Livingston, Kaley Pruitt, Justin Boyle and Evan Gallagher.

·  Ceramics awards were presented to Guin Frehling, Noilyn Corrales, Adrian Grimaldo, Richard Kelsey, Tim Vert and Liz Upchurch.

·  Creativity winners were Alex Dougherty, Bethany Drewien, Chad Levitan, Marne Elmore, Kelsey Laird and Laura Zarate.

·  ESL Awards were given to Beatriz Garcia, Carlos Cororia, Perla Pacheco, Noilyn Corrales, Julio Bedolla and Maria Villaneuva in the eighth grade, plus Elihu Martinez and Paulina Estrella in seventh.

·  Top Technology Education students were Dustin Selner and Morgan Uhrig in the eighth grade; Nhi Pham and Casey Bennett in the seventh grade; and Inca Dieterich, Lani Minor and Natalie Hague in the sixth grade.

·  Purple Team Achievement Awards were presented to Sarah Adicoff, Travis Amick, Tara Cappel, Ryon Campbell, Thomas Phelan, Amy Difrancesco, Mike Ward, Solee Uranga, Bryce Moulton and Kacie Femling.

·  Integrated I Math award winner was Kaitlin Gasenica.

·  A Special Education award was given to Ben Doan and Emily the dog.

·  Academic Excellence Awards for the Silver and Gold Teams were given to Scott Pike, T.J. France, Sidney Spiller, Tyler Stagg, Allison Rust, Caiti Leo, Kristen Cole, Mari Gallagher, Natalie Hague, Ian Rumpp, Kathy Russell, Lauren Morgenthaler, T.J.
