students accept 2001-02 awards
Recognition at
year-end school assembly
Outstanding
Wood River Middle School students and citizens were honored for their
2001-02 school year activities during awards assemblies held the last
week of school.
Highlight
of the assemblies was presentation of Citizenship Awards voted by
members of the student body.
The
Citizenship winners in the Red and Green (eighth grade), Blue and Purple
(seventh grade), and Gold and Silver (sixth grade) teams were determined
on service, courtesy, scholarship, character, personality and attitude.
Eighth-grade
citizenship winners were Colleen Fiaschetti, Kyle Niedrich, Ross
Campbell and Addy Mason.
The
principal’s award was presented to eighth-graders Huston Brashears and
Abby Fairman.
Seventh-grade
citizenship award recipients were Max Kwok, Kaitlin Gasenica, Taylor
Stevenson and Conor Davis.
Sixth-grade
citizenship winners for 2001-02 were T.J. Castle, Lacy Werley, T.J.
France and Tessa Barrow.
Other
important awards handed out this year:
Presidential
Education Awards for outstanding academic achievement were
distributed to 57 eighth-grade students who achieved grade-point
averages of 3.5 or higher, while scoring 85% or higher on standard
achievement tests.

Seventh-grade
perfect attendance winners were Ben Doan, Jessica Ornelas, Kane Thomas,
Raul Villaneuva and Jessica Waszak.
Perfect
attendance in the sixth grade went to Kayla Ayala, Alejandro Bedolla,
Daisy Carrillo, Ryan Gorham, Luvy Guzman, Rachel Hoolahan, Daniel
Norton, Patrick Patterson and Kori Wagner.
