Boulder Ski Tour is
revamped
Change in structure
The Wells
Fargo Boulder Mountain Ski Tour Organizing Committee is busy making plans
and implementing new changes as it looks forward to the 2003 race, which
is scheduled for February 1, 2003.
Committee
Chairman Bob Rosso said the WFBMT is making some exciting new changes to
lead it into the future—and next year’s 28th annual race.
Organizational
duties will shift from being under the Sun Valley/Ketchum Chamber of
Commerce’s organizational umbrella, to an independent non-profit
organization.
A new race
director will be hired to succeed retiring event coordinators Gay Riley
and Roberta Heinrich.
Rosso said
the new non-profit structure will allow more independent control and will
enable the event to receive financial support from individual and business
sponsors.
The race
was founded by a group of volunteers. The Chamber has been directly
involved in putting it on since 1991, bringing it to its current
financially healthy position. Chamber director Carol Waller said the
Chamber is very supportive of the transition and will continue to provide
promotional support to insure its continued success.
Current
WFBMT committee members include Bob Rosso/Elephant’s Perch; Andy Munter/Backwoods
Mountain Sports; Rick Kapala/SV Ski Education Foundation Nordic program
director; Gay Riley and Roberta Heinrich; John Wells/SVK Chamber Board;
Carol Waller/SVK Chamber; John Seiller/attorney; Mike Wolter/Janss Center;
and Muffy Ritz.
The WFBMT
committee is currently actively searching for a qualified race director(s)
to organize all aspects of the race for 2003 and beyond.
"It is
a big task, and Gay and Roberta did an excellent job for us over the last
four years. We look forward to finding another enthusiastic and skilled
person to step into this important role", said Rosso.
Any
interested parties should submit letter of interest and resume to WFBMT,
Box 173, Sun Valley, ID, 83353.
