Grumpy’s captures women’s team bowling

City tournament


The Grumpy’s fivesome of Marta Thompson, Vicki Saul, Peggie Boyett, Beth Callister and Kelly Cole (3004 handicap) won the team event of last weekend’s Wood River Women’s Bowling Association city tournament in Bellevue.

In the team standings of the two-day tournament at Mountain Sun Lanes, Grumpy’s was 13 pins better than second-place Car Doctors (2991) feauring Karen Zuck, Shelley Christiansen, Kathie Ballantyne, Julie Ward and Tammy Boyett.

The high scratch game was Vicki Dick, 226. The high scratch series of 606 was rolled by Jolene Stone (206-203-197).

Singles handicap winner was Lilia Ward (714) over Marta Thompson (667) and, tied for third place, Karla Williams and Jolene Stone (648).

Other placers among 34 singles entries were Dana Gloer fifth place (643), Julie Ward sixth (632) and Destra Umek seventh (626).

In final doubles standings among 17 teams the winners were Malora and Ramona Castle (1252) ahead of Tracy Van Gelder and Kellie England (1232) and third-place Peggie Boyett and Kelly Cole (1231).

They were followed by Tina Murphy and Dana Gloer (1215), Cindy Maxwell and Karla Williams (1179), Laurie Wolfley & Vicky Domke (1174).

In other city tournament news: 200 Games were bowled by: Karla Williams 201, 206, 204 and 210; Vicki Dick 200 and 226; Malora Castle 201; Debbie Castle 202; Peggie Boyett 205; Vicky Domke 201; Marta Thompson 201; Lilia Ward 202; and Jolene Stone 201, 214, 203 and 206.
