The first city council meetings of the New Year will complete the November municipal election of mayors and council members.

In Sun Valley, Mayor Dave Wilson will swear in one incumbent and one new member into the city council at 8 a.m. Jan. 8 at City Hall.

Kevin Laird, the incumbent for City Council Seat 3, overcame challenger Sue Bailey 263 votes to 185 votes.

Ann Agnew, the challenger for City Council Seat 4, overcame incumbent Linda O’Shea 244 votes to 220 votes.

At Ketchum City Hall on Jan. 7, at 5:30 p.m., Ketchum City Clerk Sandy Cady will swear in Mayor-elect Ed Simon, incumbent Councilwoman Christina Potters and Baird Gourlay, who won the city’s first runoff election for a council seat.

Simon won a five-way race (518 votes) against David Hutchinson (313 votes), Mickey Garcia (77 votes), Janet Dunbar (72 votes) and Chase Hamilton (62 votes).

Potters edged out challenger Rod Sievers 519 votes to 496 votes.

Gourlay was forced into a runoff with Anne Corrock on Dec. 4, when neither won more than 50 percent of the vote on Nov. 6.

In November, Gourlay won 460 votes, Corrock won 379 votes, and a third candidate, Millie Wiggins, received 193 votes.

On Dec. 4, Gourlay beat out Corrock 360 votes to 264 votes.

In Hailey, Mayor Brad Siemer, who did not run for re-election, will swear in Mayor-elect Al Lindley. Lindley will then swear in incumbent council members Martha Burke and Don Keirn.

The Hailey ceremony will be Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. at Hailey City Hall.

Lindley and Keirn ran unopposed, with Lindley getting 330 votes out of 416, and Keirn getting 347 out of 416 votes.

Burke ran against challenger Pete Kramer, winning by 240 votes to his 175 votes.

In Carey, City Clerk Mary Ann Hennefer will swear in incumbent Mayor Rick Baird and Councilmen Bob Simpson and Randy Patterson on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. at Carey City Hall
