‘Day of
National Prayer and Remembrance’
President
Bush has designated Friday, Sept. 14, a "Day of National Prayer and
Remembrance," and is asking Americans to use their lunch breaks on
that day to visit places of worship to pray for the victims of Tuesday’s
terrorist attack on New York and Washington, D.C.
An
Interfaith Service is scheduled in Ketchum at 5:30 p.m. Friday afternoon,
at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Participating will be the Wood River
Jewish Community, the Presbyterians, Catholics, and Episcopalians (as
announced to date)
There is a
planning meeting 10 a.m. Friday 10 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
Bush also
is scheduled to travel Friday to New York to offer his condolences to the
families of those injured or killed and to thank rescue workers. In a
televised conference call with New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and Gov.
George Pataki, Bush said he would travel immediately after a late-morning
memorial service at Washington’s National Cathedral.
