Elkhorn Golf crowns
club champs
Two-day tourney
Jim Curran
and Judith Hinds are the 2001 Elkhorn Golf Club club champions.
They
qualified to represent Elkhorn at the Idaho Golf Association’s
Tournament of Champions Sept. 29-30.
During the
36-hole Elkhorn club championships Aug. 28-29, Curran and Hinds posted the
lowest gross stroke totals in the first flights. A total 29 men and women
competed in the meet on the par-72 course, men playing 7,021 yards, women
5,414.
Curran
carded scores of 75-81 for 156 gross, 138 net to win by seven strokes over
Pat Bauman, 80-83 for 163-151.
It was very
close in the women’s first flight, Hinds (76-79 for 155-137) making
back-to-back birdies to rally over Kitty Willard (77-78 for 155-145).
Hinds tied it with a birdie on the 18th and then won it with a birdie on
the first playoff hole.
