Skaters show their 
skills and talent

Summer Skating Championships


The 35th annual Sun Valley Skating Championships sponsored by the Sun Valley Figure Skating Club were a proving ground and a fun time for 28 club members.

Skating on the indoor and outdoor rinks, the young skaters competed in 37 events July 21-22. The championships were a highlight of the 65th Sun Valley Summer Skating School being staged June 11-Aug. 25.

Competition chairman was Paulette Butler. Registrar was Barbara Stuns, a U.S. Figure Skating Association judge from Hailey. Besides Stuns, local judges were Lolly Jensen, Betsy Hauck and David Hold.

Besides Sun Valley, there were skaters from 20 other clubs representing Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, California and West Virginia.
