2001 BCRD Summer Youth Program
Offered since 1995 by the Blaine County Recreation
District with the support of generous donors from the community. It
provides activities to keep children ages 6-13 busy from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Mondays through Fridays for a cost of about $1.25 per hour. Over 300
children are expected to participate in this year's programs, to be held
in Hailey.
New this year is a Sunrise Session, an early-morning
activity session for kids that runs from 8-10 a.m. each day.
Registration Night is Wednesday, May 9 from 6-7:30
p.m. in the Hailey Elementary School multi-purpose room. Registration
is on a first-come, first-served basis. Call the Rec District at 788-2117
weekdays.
SUMMER SPORTS CAMP
Offered in two five-week sessions for kids ages 6-13 are
supervised sports including soccer, basketball, roller hockey, flag
football, coed games and tennis. Once again, kids ages 6-8 have a chance
to try all the sports in coed games.
Days—Mondays and Wednesdays, Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
Dates—June 11-July 12 and July 16-Aug. 16.
Location—Wood River High School, Hailey except
for tennis, which is held at Wood River Middle
School in Hailey.
Eligibility—Boys and girls ages 6-13. You must be
going into first grade to join the program. Activities are separated into
boys and girls ages 6-8, and 9-13.
First session (June 11-July 12) times and activities,
ages 6-8—10 a.m. to 12 noon (coed games and roller hockey M-W; coed
games and soccer T-Th); and 12:30-3 p.m. (coed games, basketball and
soccer M-W; coed games, roller hockey and flag football T-Th).
First session times and activities, ages 9-13—10
a.m. to 12 noon (coed games and basketball M-W; coed games and tennis T-Th);
and 12:30-3 p.m. (coed games, flag football and soccer M-W; coed games,
roller hockey, basketball and soccer T-Th).
Second session (July 16-Aug. 16) times and activities,
ages 6-8—10 a.m. to 12 noon (coed games and roller hockey M-W; coed
games and soccer T-Th); and 12:30-3 p.m. (coed games and soccer M-W; coed
games, roller hockey and flag football T-Th).
Second session times and activities, ages 9-13—10
a.m. to 12 noon (coed games and soccer M-W; coed games and tennis T-Th);
and 12:30-3 p.m. (coed games, flag football and soccer M-W; coed games,
roller hockey and soccer T-Th).
Fee—$26.25 per activity per session including
tax. So, if your child plays coed games on Mondays and Wednesdays, it
costs $26.25. If your child wants to also play coed games on Tuesdays and
Thursdays, it costs another $26.25.
Restrictions—Your child can sign up for as many
activities as they want in the first and second sessions. All class
schedules depend on registration numbers.
Equipment—You must provide your own roller hockey
equipment. All safety equipment like helmet and pads must be worn to
participate.
Lunch and other necessities—Send your child to
camp with a sack lunch. They'll be supervised during the 12 noon-12:30
p.m. lunch period. Be sure to provide a water bottle, sunscreen and hat.
Parent Open Houses—Will be scheduled at the high
school during each session.

Funding--Each year the program must raise nearly
$10,000 to meets its expenses and remain affordable. Donors include
longtime SYP boosters Jean and Anson Beard, the Blaine County
Commissioners, City of Hailey, Papoose Club, Power Engineers and the Idaho
Mountain Express, along with numerous local donations by organizations
and individuals.

An exciting new addition for working families. Various
games offered in two five-week sessions for kids ages 6-13.

CREATIVITY CAMP
Expand your child's horizons in this exciting program. Two
five-week sessions, with children separated into 6-8 and 9-13 age groups.
Activities include arts and crafts, creative writing, theater and
storytelling.
Days—Mondays and Wednesdays, Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
Dates—June 11-July 12 and July 16-Aug. 16.
Location—Wood River High School art room, Hailey.
Eligibility—Boys and girls ages 6-13. You must be
going into first grade. Activities are separated into boys and girls ages
6-8, and 9-13. All Creativity classes are coed.
Times—10 a.m. to 12 noon; and 12:30-3 p.m.
Fee—$26.25 per activity per session.
Parent Open Houses—Will be scheduled at the high

EMERSON BROOKS FRIDAY FUN DAYS
This once-a-week program offers a variety of fun-filled
activities like biking, hiking, fishing and field trips. Two sessions are
offered, each incorporating five Fridays.
Days—Fridays.
Dates—June 15-July 13, and July 20-Aug. 17.
Times—10 a.m. to 3 p.m., times may vary.
Location—Trips depart from Wood River High
School, Hailey.
Eligibility—Boys and girls ages 6-13. You must be
going into first grade.
Fee—$31.50 per person for each five-week session,
including tax.
Bring—Lunch and snacks, water bottle, sunscreen,
hat and good shoes.
Supervision—Summer Youth Program staff.
Some of the trips offered—To Redfish Lake,
Dierkes Lake, Wild Horse Creek Ranch and Easley Hot Springs.

The Summer Youth Program has set aside one evening to
register children. Registration forms, which were distributed in Blaine
County schools in early April, are also currently available at the Blaine
County Recreation District office in Hailey.

Note—No registrations will be accepted before May
