Higgins is quickest down Snowbird slope
JO Winter Games slalom
First-year J2 Sean Higgins of the Sun Valley Ski Team
collected another Intermountain Cup/Junior Olympic slalom win Friday in a
Utah Winter Games gate race for 95 men at Snowbird, Utah.
Higgins, fifth after the first 56-gate run, turned up the
juice and turned in the fastest second run to win by .17 seconds. Placing
just off the podium by .01 second was fourth place Zachary Brown.
Adding a runner-up finish in Saturday’s SL against a
tough field of predominantly Utah racers, Higgins showed he is well
prepared to compete at a higher level. Last winter Higgins was the Western
Region J3 giant slalom king and SL runner-up.
Sunday, second-year J2 Brown, 16, placed second behind
James Moffat, 19, of Park City in the giant slalom, at Park City. Hailey’s
Lauren Eder won J4 girls. Brown was second again Monday in the David
Wright Memorial GS.
