Blackacre Capital Group, owner of Elkhorn Resort in Sun Valley, plans to
have Doral Golf continue improvements started at the Elkhorn resort golf course in 1999.
Doral Golf is the new manager of Elkhorn Golf Club. Doral was recently
retained by Blackacre to manage the upscale resort golf course.
Blackacre Capital, headquartered in New York City, is a privately-held
fund with investments in golf, hotels and other commercial properties.
Doral Golf is the golf course management division of MeriStar Hotels &
Resorts, based in Washington, D.C.
Elkhorn Golf Course, which was designed by Robert Trent Jones and Robert
Trent Jones Jr., is a semi-private, 7,100-yard, 18-hole championship course.
Blackacre Capital recently completed construction of a 7,500 square-foot
clubhouse, which includes a 50-seat grill, pro shop and locker rooms.
A new driving range opened this spring, and a new practice putting green
is scheduled for completion this summer.
"Doral plans to implement an enhanced full maintenance and
improvement schedule for the course," said Howard Glatzer, Blackacre managing
director.
He added, "The course already is in full operation after experiencing
one of the earliest spring openings in years.
"Doral Golf and Elkhorn are committed to the continued improvement of
this championship golf facility.
"Coastal Hotel Group will continue to manage the hotel, and we look
forward to them working with Doral to provide an excellent, seamless guest
experience."
A top-notch management team has been assembled to oversee daily operation
of the golf course, Glatzer said.
It includes Brian Heywood, former superintendent at Jackson Hole Golf
& Tennis in Jackson Hole, Wyo. He joins David Hardison, Elkhorns director of
golf since 1996.
Shane Galles from The Valley Club in Hailey has joined the Elkhorn staff
as the new head professional. He will be aided by new assistant professional Evan
Lillevand from San Francisco.
The Elkhorn Golf Club is part of The Elkhorn Resort, a comprehensive
resort village located in Sun Valley that includes a resort hotel, shops, restaurants,
condominiums, vacation ownership and single-family homes.
In addition to golf, other recreational amenities available at the resort
village include skiing, tennis, swimming, a spa and numerous other year-round outdoor
activities.
