Will Storey joins Capitol Commission
Retired business executive from Sun Valley
Retired Sun Valley business executive Will M. Storey is
the newest member of the Idaho Capitol Commission.
Storeys appointment was announced by commission chairman Roy
Lewis Eiguren during a Nov. 9 press conference in Boise that also officially welcomed
Idahoans and the world to the commissions new website.
Among the missions of the Idaho Capitol Commission is restoration of
the Capitol building in Boise in time for its July 2005 centennial celebration. The
website explains how Idahoans can help the effort.
Storey has a historic family connection to the Idaho State Capitol
building.
His grandfather, Charles Storey, was superintendent of the Storey and
Murphy construction company that built the original structure. The dome and central
structure of the Capitol was completed in 1912.
Storeys grandfather later supervised the construction of the two
wing additions (House and Senate chambers), completed in 1920, and also served as an Ada
County legislator and former House Speaker.
In announcing Storeys appointment, Eiguren cited his business
background.
Storey held corporate positions with Price Waterhouse, Brooks Scanlon
Inc. and Potlatch Forest prior to his tenure with Boise Cascade Corp. as its executive
vice president and chief financial officer from 1963 to 1982.
He also held executive positions with Federated Department Stores Inc.;
with Manville Inc.; and with American President Companies, Ltd., for which he was
executive vice president and chief financial officer up until his retirement in 1995.
Storey is a board member of St. Lukes Regional Medical Center and
is chairman of the Wood River Valley Community Council for St. Lukes RMC.
A graduate of Oregon State University. Storey completed graduate
studies at the University of Washington and also served in the U.S. Air Force.
He is currently a director on the board of Albertsons, and with
B&B Tile and Masonry.
Storey and his wife Verle have two children, Sharon Miller (Mrs. Seth)
and Kip Storey.
On the Capitol Commission Storey replaces Sondra Dahl-Hansen, who
resigned effective Nov. 3, 1999.
