Hailey starts thinking about the holidays

Christmas is drawing near

Hailey merchants are once again banding together to organize some great events for the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, with the help of the Chamber of Commerce.

The Friday after Thanksgiving, which is Nov. 26, will be the kickoff for the Hailey Holidays.

Plans for the festive evening will include lights, music and arts lending holiday spirit to the downtown Hailey area.

The centerpiece of the Friday night activities is the third annual "Lighting of the City Holiday Decorations and Trees."

Main Street businesses will be asked to decorate trees in front of their stores with white holiday lights. The city holiday tree will again be located in its corner by the library.

The Chamber is also toying with the idea of having a "Parade of Lights," which would literally be a parade of vehicles donned in holiday glitter down Main Street.

Capping off the "Night of Lights": The first annual "Night of the Arts," to display works by local artists at local businesses—and complement the successful Art Studio Tours organized by the Hailey Chamber in September.

Artist work will be juried.

If you’d like to make suggestions about the Thanksgiving event, call the Chamber at 788-2700 or FAX responses to 578-1595 or 788-9858.

Of course, the Chamber is once again encouraging businesses to take advantage of mild, autumn temperatures and replace the holiday lights on trees in front of your storefront—and put lights around the display windows.

Hailey Holiday Giveaways

The core of the Hailey Chamber’s holiday promotion is Hailey Holiday Giveaways.

For every dollar spent by a customer in a Hailey business, a holiday raffle ticket is given. The corresponding ticket is placed in the holiday drum.

On Saturdays prior to Christmas, drawings are held. Prizes from participating businesses are raffled. The grand prizes will be a combination of cold, hard cash and Hailey holiday dollars to be spent at participating businesses.

The promotion works because participating businesses each donate $100 to the pot. The fees cover the grand prizes and marketing and advertising of the event.

This is the third year of Hailey Holiday Giveaways.

Two years ago, $2,700 in cash was raffled. Last year, $4,100 was given away.
