Hemingway’s Birthday on July 21, 1899, 100 years ago today, Ernest Hemingway was born at Oak Park, Ill., the first son of Grace Hall Hemingway and Clarence Edmonds Hemingway. A noted American short story writer and novelist, Ernest Hemingway served in both World War I and II. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954 and died by his own hand in Ketchum July 2, 1961.
