Willis’s Hailey nightclub to open doors Friday after year of closure

The Mint Night Club and Bar, the Hailey establishment owned by Bruce Willis’s Valley Entertainment, will reopen Friday at 6 p.m. just in time for the July 4th weekend.

The Mint has been dormant for nearly a year.

"It’s going to be open Friday and Saturday nights," said Ken Hendrickson of Valley Entertainment.

Never to be accused of verbosity, Valley Entertainment limited comments to "no comment," when asked about any special events and bands, reasons for the closure and re-opening, or if the club would stay open year-round.

The Mint is already fully staffed with local residents, Hendrickson said. He said he did not know how many employees were hired.

This Friday night, a disc jockey will be playing music in the nightclub.

The Mint opened in July of 1995 and did not close until last year, when it was closed "for slack."

Since then, Willis has held private functions in the night club, but has not opened it to the public.

The fate of Willis’s business ventures, including the E.G. Willis Building, Valley Entertainment, The Mint, and the Liberty Theater, has vexed locals since last year, when the Mint and Willis’s Shorty’s Diner closed unexpectedly.

Shorty’s reopened under new ownership earlier this year.
