Reward for coyote killer quadruples

A $500 reward being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for running down a coyote and killing it with a snowmobile in the Sawtooth Valley on March 12 has soared to more than $2,400, according to Marilyn Martin of the Idaho Animal Advocates.

The blatant trespass and killing of the animal sparked outrage among local residents, who turned to the Idaho Animal Advocates to organize the fund.

After an announcement of the reward was published in the Idaho Mountain Express on March 24, calls and checks poured in, according to Martin.

Wood River Valley and Magic Valley residents joined skiers, snowmobilers and animal lovers to up the ante in hopes of finding the person responsible for the ruthless killing.

Anyone with information should report it to Citizens Against Poaching at (800) 632-5999. A caller need not give a name, however, it is required to claim the reward.

Persons interested in donating to the fund should call Marilyn Martin of the Advocates at 726-1188.
