Donna Wright honored for her nursing care

Fifth annual Carl A. Gray Memorial Award recipient

Donna Wright, RN, a member of the nursing staff at Wood River Medical Center, is this year’s recipient of the Carl A. Gray Memorial Award.

The fifth annual award was presented to Wright on Wednesday, Feb. 3 by the Gray family and Wood River Medical Center Foundation.

Each year, the award honors a nurse who demonstrates excellence in nursing care. The Gray family established the cash award in 1995 to honor exemplary nursing service.

Seven WRMC nurses were nominated by their peers for their unique ability to provide total patient care.

They were Grace Abel, Susan DeChevrieux, Sandy Fogelman, Carol Fuller, Diane Peavey, Karen Morrison and Donna Wright.

Donna Wright’s nomination contained glowing remarks from her nursing colleagues.

Theresa Bush, associate director of WRMC clinical services, said, "Donna is a calm, nurturing individual. We are fortunate to have a nurse with her special talents on our staff."

Carl Gray was a former Sun Valley Ski Club president and patron of many local skiing events.

As president of Union Pacific, Gray approved the funding for Count Felix Schaffgotsch’s expedition to find the perfect location for a ski resort, according to Wendolyn Holland’s "Sun Valley: An Extraordinary History."

Gray’s son Harvey Gray, who presented the 1999 award, said, "The memorial award is our family’s way of saying thank you, and recognizing the efforts of a dedicated group of caring professionals."

Harvey Gray presented the award along with his wife Marge Gray, his sister Linda Burdet, and brother-in-law Heinz Fisher.
