For the week of October 21 thru October 27, 1998

Pizza and politics

There’s nothing worse than politics on an empty stomach.

Voters hungry for more than a little discussion will find it tonight at 6:30 in the old Blaine County courthouse in Hailey at the Pizza and Politics Forum sponsored by this newspaper.

The forum is a chance for voters to take a look at the people who want to spend their hard-earned tax money and to shape the future. County candidates alone will control more than $13 million on local coffers next year.

Voters will have a chance to question candidates in contested races for the Idaho Legislature, the Board of Blaine County Commissioners, County Assessor and the Recreation District Board. Candidates will outline how and where they wish to lead.

More than stomachs grumble in the years after elections. Voters should make sure they have little to grumble about by attending the forum and making sure they don’t elect Tuna Surprise when they could have had Filet Mignon.

The Mountain Express is springing for the pizza. The pizza and politics will be hot—while they last.
