Fall election to bring new director

Fan of Wood River Valley recreation, sport and fitness Bob Rosso announced his resignation from the Blaine County Recreation District Board of Directors last week.

During his roughly 20 years of volunteer service to the rec district, dating to 1979, Rosso was instrumental in the development of the Wood River Trails and North Valley Trails systems lining the valley from Galena Lodge to just south of Bellevue, among a host of other recreation endeavors over the years.

It’s time to focus on family and business, the Elephant’s Perch outdoor sporting equipment and clothing shop in Ketchum, and make room for "new blood" on the board, rec district executive director Mary Austin Crofts said.

"I almost can’t imagine recreation district life without his vision, advice and extraordinary leadership," Crofts said. "I am definitely one of his biggest admirers."

Coming this fall, the Nov. 3 election will offer voters several new candidates to represent their recreation interests.

Running for Rosso’s central Blaine County seat are Don Board of north of Hailey and Tim Hamilton of the Heatherlands.

Wendy Johnson of Hailey and John Shay of Bellevue will vie for the chance to represent southern Blaine.
